Vibration control

Vibrations in a conductor are a result of resistance to current.  These vibrations create micro voltages that transmit as noise. 'Components accept this noise as part of the signal path and work faithfully to reproduce it. Reducing these micro voltages can greatly influence the efficiency of any circuit and is one of the fundamental focal points of Turnbull Audio.

Mass damping

Mass damping in its simplest form is ensuring that the weight of the dampener exceeds the weight of the material containing the vibration.  One of the materials used exceeds the weight of the copper by as much as 3 times, thus making it a powerful influence in the conductor’s environment.

Constrained layer damping
 

One of the more innovative developments of the Prestige line, is the constrained layer damping implementation and its uniform application to the conductor.  It takes multiple materials and 3 separate facilities to create this highly efficient technology, and test results on its efficacy are impressive.

Viscous damping

Viscous damping is highly effective for impulse loading.  An example of impulse loading would be a sudden, large dynamic change in music.  We use particulates, as a crossover purpose, from our field obfuscation technology.  It is a careful balance in engineering to make sure that the density and shape of the particulates used don’t create their own sibilance by forming a lattice structure molecularly, while also maintaining all the properties of the field obfuscation development.  These two variables are a great example of Turnbull Audio’s perpetual engineering.  Continual refinement of each variable was performed in the coexisting environment, until the results were maximized for both technologies in harmony and not conflict.

 High Pressure compression

Employing 3 different materials with direct engagement, at very specific locations and torque, allow us to address resonances before they enter a component. Cleverly hidden beneath select set screws, there is a tightening procedure in addition to location and torque that has maximized the technology beyond expectations.
